The excursion will bring you over impressive level 4+ rapids during the 10 km journey and will take around 2 to 3 hours to complete, depending on the season.
The Mae Taeng River
This important river originates high up in the mountains of northern Thailand, very close to the Burmese border. Certain areas of the river are quite tranquil and calm, perfect for activities like bamboo rafting, but the route taken for the whitewater rafting is much more intense.
The river also makes its way through scenic canyons and impressive valleys, some of the most beautiful scenery in Chiang Mai.
Do I Need Experience?
No experience is needed to join this amazing ride. Before each raft departs, riders are given a thorough briefing on how to paddle through the rapids and basic maneuvering techniques. This training will be more than enough to get you started and professionally trained guides will be with you every step of the way.
Is It Safe?
Safety is the top priority as each of the local guides is thoroughly trained to handle any situation and they follow a very strict protocol. Every rider is outfitted with top of the line safety equipment including helmet and life jacket. Serious injury is a very rare occurrence, and in most cases that it does happen, it is because the riders didn’t follow the instructions of the guides.
What Should I Bring?
Not much is needed to enjoy whitewater rafting, but make sure that you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet because you just might get soaked. Also, riders are advised to wear sandals that strap to your ankles so that they don’t fall off during the ride. As mentioned before, all safety equipment will be provided for every guest.
Can My Kids Join?

When is the Best Time to Go?
Guests can go whitewater rafting anytime during the year. During the summer season the water level is lower and the rapids are calmer, but in the rainy season, the water level increases and the rapids are more powerful.
